Sgravio per trasferimento di residenza (ADM) is the relief that removes that charge for genuine transfers of residence, filed with Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM). New purchases, goods owned for less than the qualifying period, alcohol, tobacco and vehicles are assessed separately and are the most common source of unexpected charges.
Shipments arriving from the United States are treated as a third-country import into Italy.
